Giant Bicycle - Horseless Carriage 2.0 Kinetic Sculpture Racer for sale in San Jose, California

$5,000

I built this quite authentic looking contraption over a 2-year period to race in the Kinetic Grand Championship in Eureka CA. It did race 3 times there, and once in Ventura. It is not well suited for such races (but did twice earn the highest engineering score), but it is loads of fun to ride in parades and other sorts of unusual rallies (it is the 2014 Obtainium Cup Champion!).
It is a two person side-by-side bicycle. Each side has it's own independent 147-speed power train (3 shifters, 3x7x7). The frame is Ash, the wheels are Hickory. It has a full leaf-spring suspension inspired by a model-T. The brakes are linkage-driven disc brakes (go-kart). It steers and brakes from the center, so it can be driven from either side. It's about 5 feet wide, 10 feet long, and about 8 feet tall with the top up. The top retracts quite easily.
It also feature two real antique lights, retrofitted with LEDs, and an 'ooga' horn. I do not know how much is weighs, but it's around 600 lbs. Two decent cyclists can easily get it going 10mph on the flat, but probably only go 5mph for any distance. You have the gears to climb, but I don't recommend any 'real' climbing.
It will be at the Silicon Valley Bike Festival this Sunday (May 15th) at History Park in San Jose, 11AM-5PM. Come see it! It is available following the San Jose July 4th parade, where it is also scheduled to appear.
